George,

First off, I'm extremely happy that Senator Mark Warner won a tight victory over the former Enron lobbyist and GOP political handler.

Apparently Virginia voters had forgotten the Enron $111 billion scandal that promulgated the creation of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. Probably forgotton due to most of the stock investors being either Wall Street-based or Texan residents who lost their savings and retirement.

This senate election should have been a solid win with Warner's business savvy, charismatic public image and political crossover appeal.

What happened? He made the same mistake as his Democratic predecessor Chuck Robb did in the 1990s. During the time Mark Warner has been in the US Senate, he has lost touch with Virginia voters by not venturing beyond I-495 and telling his story of successful government. People easily forget. Like they did with the Enron scandal.

Fact is, predecessor Sen. Chuck Robb micro managed everything! Even down to the request for an ice-cold Diet Coke waiting for Lynda Bird Robb's arrival - floppy hat and all.
