"A handful of Democrats in Central Virginia's 56th District on Thursday nominated Will Shaw of Louisa County as the party's candidate to run for the House of Delegates in the fall.

Only 44 people voted in a closed caucus at the Goochland library in Goochland Courthouse.

Shaw, a facilities manager at the University of Virginia,defeated Jane Mitchell of Henrico County. Her husband, Tim Mitchell, chairman of the Henrico Democratic Committee, said he thought the unofficial final vote was 25-19.

He said Shaw would make an excellent candidate to oppose Republican Del. Bill Janis in the Louisa-Goochland western Henrico district." (The Daily Progress, May 25, 2007)
