News: Edward Loper's Graduation

On May 3, 1999, Edward received the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences Award for Outstanding Scholarship in Cognitive Science. On June 3, 1999, Edward was initiated into Phi Beta Kappa at M.I.T.

On June 4, 1999, Edward received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science with a minor in Linguistics and also his Bachelor of Science in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Guest speakers at commencement exercises were Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers, hosts of the National Public Radio series Car Talk, otherwise known as Thomas L. and Raymond F. Magliozzi. Both are graduates of M.I.T. Tom has a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, class of 1958, and Ray has a Bachelor of Science degree in the Humanities, class of 1972.

In 1998, you may recall Hoy Loper as the Devil in Transition by Alex Chase-Levenson,

as Theo in Tandem Friends School production of Pippin , and

as Dill in the UVa Heritage Repertory production of To Kill A Mockingbird.

Perhaps you were also at the 10th Annual Piedmont Council of the Arts 1998 Arts Award Luncheon where he was welcomed as a 'Rising Star' and had his picture taken with another Rising Star, David Toscano.
