"PHILADELPHIA, July 3 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Malia Lazu, nationally renowned for her efforts to increase voter turnout and ensure health insurance for all, has officially launched the Philadelphia phase or her campaign to be elected the American Candidate.

Lazu, 27, will be campaigning in Philadelphia today (July 3) and July 4 as she competes against three other contendors for the title of American Candidate in the national election reality program sponsored by Showtime cable channel.

Lazu, born in Hawaii, raised in Boston, and now residing in Maryland, will be campaigning at various polling places in Philadelphia.

Today (July 3)

4-6 p.m. - Melrose Diner, 501 Snyder Ave.

5:30-7:30 p.m. - 4th and South Streets

July 4

11 a.m.-1 p.m. - Penn's Landing, Seaport Museum

2-4 p.m. - 21st and the Parkway at the Multi-Cultural Festival

5:30-7:30 p.m. - Rittenhouse Square
